    Milken Award Recipient Announced

    Congratulations to Krystal Contreras of San Benito ISD for receiving the Milken Educator Award. Contreras is a fourth-grade writing teacher at Dr. C.M. Cash Elementary School and the only Texas educator receiving the national award during the 2018-2019 school year.

    Eight Texas school systems have been selected to be part of the Lone Star Governance (LSG) Exemplar Cohort II. The cohort is designed for local governing teams that aspire to leverage a continuous improvement mindset and framework in order to have the greatest impact on student performance and outcomes.

    Nominate a Volunteer as a Hero for Children

    Recognize the contributions of your local school volunteers by nominating them for the SBOE’s Heroes for Children Award. Nominations are being accepted through 5 p.m. (CDT) June 14. A Texas resident who gives time, service, or support to the public schools and students may be nominated for the award.
