Announcements

  • The list of materials submitted in response to the Request for Instructional Materials (RFIM) for Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) 24 is now available. IMRA Cycle 24 includes full-subject, tier-one instructional materials for K–5 English and Spanish language arts and reading and K–12 mathematics and partial-subject, tier-one instructional materials for K–3 English and Spanish phonics. TEA is hosting office hours every Thursday, starting March 21, 2024, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. CT to answer questions about the RFIM and IMRA.
  • The SBOE approved quality IMRA rubrics for K–3 and 4–8 English language arts and reading, K–3 and 4–6 Spanish language arts and reading, and K–12 mathematics and approved an IMRA suitability rubric at the January–February meeting. These rubrics will be used to evaluate instructional materials submissions for the inaugural IMRA review cycle.

A growing body of research points to the positive impact high-quality instructional materials can have on student learning. TEA defines high-quality materials as those that ensure full coverage of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), align with research-based instructional strategies in each subject area, support all learners, and include:

  • Progress monitoring through embedded, aligned assessments
  • Implementation support
  • All teacher- and student-facing resources needed for instruction

Texas Resource Review provides detailed, independent quality reviews of many instructional materials to help districts make informed decisions.
