FFA Continues to Play an Integral Role in Texas Public Education

As I visit schools across our state, I am likely to run across students proudly wearing their FFA jacket – and rightly so.

The organization (once known as the “Future Farmers of America” and now simply FFA) continues to play an integral role in Texas public education. The projects and work tackled by FFA students help prepare them for life after high school, and not just in agricultural settings. FFA students represent the leaders of tomorrow for their communities and our state.

This week (Feb. 17-24) is designated as National FFA Week. I join in supporting this annual recognition that spotlights the work and contributions evident in FFA chapters across Texas. On our campuses, you will find students living the FFA motto: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve. That’s a life lesson that will serve them well throughout their lives.
