The State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2018 in November 2016. The adoption of materials under Proclamation 2018 is scheduled to occur in November 2017. The adopted materials are scheduled to go into classrooms in the 2018–19 school year.
Proclamation 2018 calls for instructional materials covering ethnic studies including, but not limited to, African American studies, Mexican American studies, Asian American studies, and Native American studies, to be used in Special Topics in Social Studies.

The SBOE requires that all Proclamation 2018 pre-adoption samples of instructional materials submitted for adoption be made available to the public online. Samples are only to be accessed for review purposes only and may not be reproduced without the consent of the publisher. Links to those samples are posted below.
