Career and Technical Education Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills

The State Board of Education (SBOE) has legislative authority to adopt the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for each subject of the required curriculum. SBOE members nominate educators, parents, business and industry representatives, and employers to serve on TEKS review committees. This page provides information regarding the review and revision of the career and technical education (CTE) TEKS.

SBOE CTE Review Committees

The following lists include individuals appointed by the SBOE to serve on CTE TEKS review committees. CTE TEKS review committees began work on the CTE TEKS in June 2014:

TEKS Review Committee Final Recommendations (November 2014)

The following documents reflect the TEKS review committees' final draft recommendations for revisions to the CTE TEKS for the first set of CTE Career Clusters presented to the SBOE for discussion in November 2014.  This first set will be presented to the SBOE for first reading and filing authorization in February 2015.

The TEKS review committees' final draft recommendations for the second set of CTE Career Clusters will be presented to the SBOE for discussion in February 2015.

 

First Drafts of Recommendations for Revisions to the CTE TEKS (July 2014)

SBOE-appointed CTE TEKS review committees developed the draft recommendations below. These proposed revisions to the CTE TEKS are expected to be implemented in the 2017-2018 school year.
