The purpose of this letter is to inform school districts and open-enrollment charter schools that the existing online mathematics and reading resources currently available through TEA’s Texas SUCCESS (Students Using Curriculum Content to Ensure Sustained Success) initiative will be continued for the 2014-2015 school year. These resources were initially made available to students, parents, and teachers beginning August 2012.
Texas SUCCESS is designed to provide Texas public school students with access to interactive math and reading programs in grades 3-8 under the Student Success Initiative (SSI). The interactive online math and reading programs are currently provided by:
- Think Through Math, which provides an online interactive math program including live bilingual tutors to engage and assist students as they work to strengthen their math skills and deepen their understanding of math concepts. Think Through Math was recently aligned to the revised math TEKS that will be implemented beginning in the 2014-15 school year.
- Istation, which provides an online interactive reading program consisting of engaging, interactive content in a game-like format.
TEA’s designated SSI Support Center at Region 20 Education Service Center has established a single web portal from which students, parents, and schools may access resources from both Texas SUCCESS providers. A series of webinars, presentations, and toolkits are available in the “Support” section of the website to acquaint educators and other stakeholders with the various components of these online resources and provide information on the enrollment process. The SSI Support Center will continue to work with districts and both Texas SUCCESS providers and share materials that can be sent home to parents informing them of the online resources and instructions on how to access the resources from home.
