Jan-Feb 2017 PAEMST 2016 Finalists Resolution

WHEREAS the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching program identifies outstanding mathematics and science teachers in each state and the four U.S. jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS through state selection committees, five mathematics finalists and five science finalists were selected as Texas finalists; and

WHEREAS these teachers become candidates for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Deborah Cunningham, Armstrong Elementary School, Garland Independent School District, Sachse, Texas; Ashley Dodson, Beverly Cheatham Elementary School, Allen Independent School District, Allen, Texas; Robert Rivera, Faulk Middle School, Brownsville Independent School District, Brownsville, Texas; Misty Ruth, Young Elementary School, Pasadena Independent School District, Pasadena, Texas; Deborah Swyers, Elsa England Elementary School, Round Rock Independent School District, Austin, Texas; for being named State Finalists in the mathematics category for the 2016 Presidential Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education does hereby extend its congratulations to Rubi deHoyos, Jim G. Martin Elementary School, Northside Independent School District, San Antonio, Texas; Kirk Evans, Olson Elementary School, Allen Independent School District, Allen, Texas; Denise Koontz, Trinity Meadows Intermediate School, Keller Independent School District, Keller, Texas; Andrea Miller, B. J. Smith Elementary School, Mesquite Independent School District, Mesquite, Texas; Kelly Spradley, Brent Elementary School, Little Elm Independent School District, Little Elm, Texas; for being named State Finalists in the science category for the 2016 Presidential Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the aforementioned teachers for being identified as state and national finalists for the 2016 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching program, and that a copy be included in the permanent records of the State Board of Education.
