TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:
SUBJECT: Unexpended FY11 Technology Allotment Funds
The technology allotment (TEC 32.005) was repealed during the last legislative session effective September 1, 2011. The 2010-2011 school year was the final funding year for the technology allotment. School districts and open-enrollment charter schools that have unexpended technology allotment funds received in the 2010-2011 school year must finalize all expenditures by August 31, 2012. District business offices can process these expenditures under fund code 411 utilizing the same technology allotment expenditure guidelines.
At the end of each school year a ‘settle up’ was calculated against the new technology allotment that districts were to receive for the next school year. Since the technology allotment was repealed, the Instructional Materials Allotment (IMA) has been identified as the fund source for the ‘settle up’ calculation. Information on the IMA for the 2012- 2013 school year was provided to school districts as of May 7, 2012. The district allotment includes the 30% calculated amount for the biennium and any unexpended IMA funds from the 2011-2012 school year.
The district Instructional Materials Allotment also includes the calculation to settle-up the technology allotment from fiscal year 2011. The settle-up calculation will conclude the process for the final year of the Technology Allotment funds.
