TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:

SUBJECT:  Technology Planning and Reporting in Texas Schools

As increasing opportunities for digital learning are made available to Texas schools, planning and measuring progress for implementing technology in schools is vital. Continued planning and documentation is necessary to qualify for E-Rate Priority 2, internal connection discounts and informs the use of the new Instructional Materials Allotment.

While funding for the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) Title II, Part D–Enhancing Education Through Technology program of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) was discontinued, the law is still in effect and the agency has not received any official instructions to end reporting requirements. Therefore, ePlan, the Texas Campus and Teacher STaR Charts, and NCLB Technology Reporting continue to be required for school year 2011-2012. The reporting window for the NCLB Technology Reporting opens on May 1, 2012 and will close on June 29, 2012. The Campus and Teacher STaR Charts will close in the summer, and the ePlan system remains open throughout the year. These systems are aligned to the state’s Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020.

For assistance with any of these systems, please use the email addresses below.

For other questions, please contact the Instructional Materials and Educational Technology Division at (512) 463-9400 or via email at edtech@tea.texas.gov.
