Applications and Matrices for Educator Preparation Programs

Entities that want to provide a new educator preparation program (EPP) or existing EPPs that want to add new certification fields must submit one of the applications detailed below.

New Program Application

An entity that wants to provide a new EPP must submit a full proposal to TEA staff and pay an application fee (fee information is listed below). If the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) approves the proposal, the entity must also pay a post-approval site visit fee. Payment of fees does not guarantee approval to operate.

TEA offers new applicant workshops twice a year to help aspiring EPPs with the formal proposal process. At the workshop, TEA staff provides detailed information on completing each section of the proposal. The meeting is free, but a reservation is required. Please contact Sandra Nix at sandra.nix@tea.texas.gov for reservations and more information.

New Fields and Classes

An EPP rated "accredited" by SBEC may apply to offer new fields or classes of certification or clinical teaching by submitting the appropriate documents to Sandra Nix at sandra.nix@tea.texas.gov
