Shanna Peeples, an English teacher at Palo Duro High School in AISD, is the first Texas educator since 1957 to be named National Teacher of the Year.

The Texas Education Agency and the Texas High School Coaches Association are joining together to launch the ProtectHer Project,a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at eradicating sexual assault and domestic violence abuse of students. The prevention education program will focus on middle and high school students.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will be conducting interviews with 20 charter school applicants May 4-7. Interviews begin at 8 a.m. each day. Each applicant will be interviewed for about 90 minutes. The interviews, conducted at the TEA headquarters, will be streamed live on the Internet.
Texan Shanna Peeples is the new 2015 National Teacher of the Year. Peeples is an English teacher at Palo Duro High School in the Amarillo Independent School District. This is the first time a Texas teacher has won this honor since 1957.
