Gov. Greg Abbott on June 18 named Donna Bahorich of Houston as chair of the State Board of Education. Bahorich said, "I take the
responsibility very seriously knowing just how many Texas children are
depending on the board to do a great job for them."
The 2016-2017 instructional materials allotment allocations for each district and open-enrollment charter school are now available. Recent legislation requires the Texas Education Agency to make the full allotment available on Sept. 1 of the first year of the biennium.
Texas school districts were informed that new legislation allows for the adjustment of compressed tax rates for some school districts.
