The Texas Education Agency Commissioner's Office provides leadership to schools, manages the state education agency, and provides coordination with the state legislature and other branches of state government as well as the U.S. Department of Education.

Commissioner of Education

Mike Morath, a member of the Dallas Independent School District's board of trustees, was appointed commissioner of education by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Dec. 14, 2015. Morath officially began serving in this job on Jan. 4, 2016. Learn more by reading the Commissioner's biography page.

Deputy Commissioners of Education

Serving directly under the commissioner of education, ten Deputy Commissioners of Education provide leadership to the Texas Education Agency.

Past Commissioners
