Program Evaluation: Other Initiatives

Other programs with required evaluations are listed below. The evaluation reports and executive summaries are available in PDF format from the links below. 

Year-Round Schools

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is required to publish in 2015-16 and 2016-17 a list of campuses operating on a year-round system under Texas Education Code §25.084 (84th Texas Legislature, General Appropriations Act (GAA), Article III, Rider 69). In fulfillment of this requirement, Texas districts were surveyed regarding the presence of year-round education campuses in their district.

Additionally, Rider 69 requires TEA to evaluate the performance of students attending schools that operate on a Year-Round education calendar in comparison to students attending schools that operate on a traditional school-year calendar.

Texas Fitness Now

The Texas Fitness Now (TFN) program provided grants to support in-school physical education and fitness programs for students in Grades 6, 7, and 8. The primary purpose of the grant was to help reduce childhood obesity and Type II diabetes.

      Migrant Education Program

      The Migrant Education Program (MEP) helps migrant students overcome the challenges of high levels of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties, to succeed in school and to successfully transition to postsecondary education or employment.
