Technology Planning

District planning is essential to ensure digital learning opportunities for all students and educators. The State Board of Education's Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020 (PDF) provides recommendations to support district and campus planning.

The Texas ePlan system, an electronic resource provided by TEA, allows districts and charter schools to prepare and submit technology plans through an online process. Technology plans should align with district improvement plans and the state's long-range plan.

The Texas School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart gauges progress in meeting the recommendations in the Long-Range Plan for Technology (LRPT), 2006-2020.

The E-Rate program, created by the Federal Communications Commission, provides schools and libraries affordable access to advanced telecommunications services.

Districts may also use their Instructional Materials Allotment to fund technology.

Educational technology resources are available to schools to assist with planning.
